ABOUT THE GAME DESIGNER, TIM PATERSON
I was born in 1978 in Long Island, NY, the middle of six siblings. My father, a proud veteran, passed away when I was young, and my mother, a dedicated homemaker, did her best to keep us going. Growing up, we moved constantly—over 33 times by the time I turned 18—often relying on various assistance programs to get by. Despite the instability, I always had a creative mind and a natural artistic talent.
Determined to break the cycle, I joined the Marine Corps, serving for 20 years before retiring in 2016 at the age of 38. My career took me around the world, beginning as an Air Traffic Controller at NAS Miramar (later MCAS Miramar) from 1997 to 2000. I then served at MCAS Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan, from 2000 to 2003, followed by a role as a Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Gunner at MCAS Cherry Point from 2004 to 2008. Later, I transitioned to an IMRL Manager role at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, from 2008 to 2011. After returning stateside, I remained in Eastern North Carolina, continuing my service at MCAS Cherry Point and MCAS New River.
Now, I work full-time in Aviation Logistics and spend my evenings running GunCraze, a passion project that fuels my creativity. In 2008, I married the love of my life, Jenny, and together we’ve built a family with four incredible children.
My interests are as varied as they are hands-on. I love Warhammer 40,000 (though I haven’t played since starting GunCraze), Battletech, Magic: The Gathering, painting, 3D printing and design, character art, video games, video production, and toy collecting—especially He-Man Origins and Transformers. I absolutely LOVE Roleplaying Games, specifically pen and paper.
I have played RIFTs (Briefly), Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Dungeons and Dragons 3.0, 3.5,3.75 aka Pathfinder, Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, Shadowrun, MechWarrior, Macross, and Earthdawn.
Probably Not any of these.
